The area has risen to the top of the many people’s holiday wish lists thanks to Dairy Flat Farm, a luxury property run by the hospitality pros from Daylesford’s Lake House. It has orchards, a vineyard, ornamental gardens, studios and a private lodge for up to 12 guests. Another ideal base for exploring is two-bedroom Musk Manor Cottage.
Organise lunch at Daylesford Cider, which is home to both a cellar door and restaurant, or at Passing Clouds Winery. Taste its range at the welcoming cellar door, before moving on to the dining room for a delicious three-course lunch.
Stop at the Lost Children’s Monument, a poignant and historically significant memorial dedicated to three young boys who went missing in 1867 while walking home.
Get an art fix by booking an appointment to visit Musk’s Stonewalls, a gallery and studio complex. It also has an art bookshop and boutique accommodation. For more amazing local art, Bullarto is home to the studio and gallery of realist landscape artist Phillip Edwards.
On the weekend, jump aboard the Daylesford Spa Country Railway, which winds through Wombat State Forest as it travels from Daylesford to Bullarto via Musk.
