Whether you’re a regular or absolute beginner, the region’s stunning golf clubs welcome all players. Hepburn Golf is an 18-hole public course, just five minutes’ drive from Daylesford. First-timers might want to try to Fun 5, a relaxed round of five holes played off the easiest tees. Afterwards, spend some time at the country clubhouse, where drinks and snacks are served.
Pretty-as-a-picture Trentham Golf Club has specific tee times for public players, while Woodend Golf Club has 360-degree views of the Macedon Ranges from its 18 holes. Even if you don’t play, Gisborne Golf Club is well worth a visit for it kangaroo tours, where volunteers take guests out to see the local population of about 200 eastern grey kangaroos. It also has public tee times for the 18-hole course.
