Meet the makers

Many artisans and craftspeople practice their trades in the region. Get an excellent overview at The Mill Castlemaine. This reimagined 1870s woollen mill is home to more than 40 small businesses, including artisan chocolate and cheesemakers, a micro coffee roastery, handmade clothing companies and timber workers.

In Mount Franklin, luthier Nick Carpener makes stringed instruments at Wildwood Instruments and offers electric guitar and cigar box guitar workshops.

At a small studio at Mount Macedon, Emma Jimson runs Pom-Me-Granite Studios, where she creates contemporary ceramics and runs regular workshops and private lessons in plaster and porcelain.

At her cottage and garden in Daylesford, former landscape architect Natasha Morgan shares her knowledge of gardening and floral artistry in a range of workshops, from preserving to creating body products.

In March each year, the Lost Trades Fair comes to Hanging Rock, bringing with it 150 artisans and makers for live demonstrations, workshops and panel sessions.
