The Castlemaine Fringe Festival is a 16-day biennial multi-arts festival celebrating contemporary regional creativity across Castlemaine and Mount Alexander Shire.

The festival is deeply community-driven, with strong representation from LGBTQIA+, First Nations, CALD, intergenerational and all-abilities communities embedded throughout the program. Featuring free and ticketed performances, exhibitions, live music, a shire-wide arts trail, workshops and community-led events across more than 75 venues, the Castlemaine Fringe Festival attracts local, intrastate and interstate visitors to regional Victoria.

Castlemaine Fringe strengthens the region's reputation as a vibrant cultural tourism destination renowned for creativity, inclusivity and distinctive regional experiences.

Accessibility

  • Welcomes and assists people who have challenges with learning, communication, understanding and behaviour. (includes people with autism, intellectual disability, Down syndrome, acquired brain injury (ABI), dyslexia and dementia)
  • Caters for people who are blind or have vision loss.
  • Caters for people with sufficient mobility to climb a few steps but who would benefit from fixtures to aid balance. (This includes people using walking frames and mobility aids)
  • Caters for people who use a wheelchair.
