Open Gardens Victoria - Granite Garden

Established in the early 1990s and thoughtfully reimagined by its current owners since 2020, the garden has evolved into a series of interconnected spaces linked by undulating paths and generous lawns.

The remarkable granite outcrops provide structure and character, supporting an eclectic mix of native and exotic plantings that thrive in the nutrient-rich granitic soils. Towering gums, established exotic trees and sweeping borders create a variety of garden experiences, from cool, shaded areas filled with hydrangeas and other shade-loving plants to sun-drenched spaces filled with drought-tolerant species.

A productive orchard, vineyard, olive grove and kitchen garden reflect the property's agricultural heritage, producing an abundance of fruit and nuts throughout the seasons. Tucked within the garden, a fernery offers a cool retreat where visitors can relax beside the soothing sounds of a granite waterfall while admiring a beautiful display of bonsai. Wildlife flourishes throughout the garden, with flowering plants attracting honeyeaters and sheltered areas providing habitat for fairy-wrens, pardalotes and other native birds.

A magnificent avenue of silver birches leads to one of the garden's most treasured features—a majestic 600-year-old river red gum. Bonsai will be available for sale during the opening.
