Terrains of Mourning and Monument – Ceramics by Steph Wallace

Working with site-specific clays, abstract line and volcanic surfaces, Wallace examines the physical scars left on the land by historic extraction practices. These works reference the topographies of Dja Dja Wurrung Country, drawing a connection between the visible surface and the hidden layers beneath the ground and reflect Wallace's ongoing research into the Goldfields and its colonial legacies.

By grounding her materials in local soil, the exhibition invites viewers to consider the enduring impact of historic mining on the Maryborough region.
